As an IP Legal Counsel, your mission is to safeguard and strategically leverage the Company intellectual property portfolio, ensuring our innovation remains protected and our brand identity remains strong in every market we serve. From product design to intellectual property enforcement, you’ll guide and support our IP strategies across teams and jurisdictions. You’ll help embed an IP-conscious mindset across the company and work closely with Marketing, Product, Brand and R&D teams to protect the value of our brand and innovation.
You are part of the Legal team and report to the Head of Legal.
What will you do
As a IP Legal Counsel at Bugaboo, you’ll support our business with clear, practical legal advice, and you’ll help turn our designs, innovations, trademarks, and brand assets into valuable tools that drive our global growth.
Here are your key responsibilities:
IP strategy and portfolio management
Design and implement a solid IP protection strategy, and manage the Company’s global IP portfolio (trademarks, design rights, copyrights, patents.), including:
- Supporting filing and liaise with external IP agents, monitoring the lifecycle of rights and coordinating renewals and oppositions, as relevant.
- Conducting clearance and freedom-to-operate assessments to support product and brand launches.
Enforcement & brand Protection
Design and implement a robust enforcement strategy to protect the Company’s global IP portfolio. Monitor and act on potential infringements and counterfeiting, including online enforcement actions and collaboration with enforcement bodies as needed.
IP advisory & risk mitigation
- Advise internal stakeholders on IP risks in product design, marketing, and go-to-market strategies.
- Support negotiations for IP-related contract or provisions, including licensing, R&D, collaboration agreement, partnerships and supplier agreements.
- Provide guidance on wide range of IP-related questions.
Brand image & marketing support
Support Marketing teams in assessing advertising and product claims to ensure they are compliant, substantiated and appropriately risks-assessed.
Training, awareness and cross-functional collaboration
- Build and deliver training sessions to empower teams (e.g., Product, design, marketing, R&D) to identify and manage IP opportunities and risks.
- Create IP awareness and help cultivate a proactive innovation culture that integrates IP considerations from the earliest stages of product and brand development.
- Partner with Marketing, Product, Brand, and R&D teams to embed IP early in the product lifecycle.

What you will bring to the table:
- Master of Laws (LLM), preferably in Dutch or EU IP Law.
- 3–5 years of relevant legal experience, ideally within a global consumer brand with a strong IP focus.
- Proven experience managing international IP portfolios, handling trademark/design disputes, and supporting innovation-driven teams.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to translate complex IP concepts into business-friendly advice.
- Agile and adaptable, with a proactive approach to shifting priorities and emerging risks.
- Open-minded and collaborative, with a passion for working across diverse teams.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
